Missing "File" menu
Word 2002 - Office XP. Quite simply the FILE menu is missing.
EDIT, VIEW, INSERT etc are all there. Pressing ALT F doesnt work either. Detect and repair doesnt work. Reinstall didnt work. FILE is there in Excel etc.
Any clues please?

errrr.... ok you win this months word wierdness prize....
So screenshot would be good... does the edit menu appear where the file menu should be?
There are ways of editing this menu - various scripts etc. possibly something like that has been run. it might be as simple as a macro

Not there at the moment to screenshot it.
Basically, open Word and look at the list where it would usually go:-
FILE EDIT VIEW INSERT etc......
FILE is not there. EDIT starts the list.
I downloaded a utility that claimed to be able to allow you to edit all menu settings. It looked great, but the FILE option just wasnt there to add or edit!
Going to try deleting Normal.dot now........

Why didnt I think of that earlier?
Logged on remotely. Renamed Normal.dot as Normalold.dot
Restarted Word and Bobs your uncle.
