    Exclamation Modem keeps dropping out

    Hello All

I have installed in my PC a ZOOM ADSL MODEM Internal PCI fitment but just lately in it has be dropping out and re-connect itself it is driving me crazy as when I am doing something on the net it drops out "Ping" and 30 or so seconds later "Ping" it back.

The tail end of last year I was running at 7.2 Mbps but it has recently dropped to a low 4.9 Mbps for no reason.

Please could you advise me on how to rectify the problem and if possible a better internal modem "ADSL" PCI fitment.

I have no need to go wireless yet.

    Terry

Trainshed, I assume you service provider will do a line check for you at no charge, so that's where I would start. You might also try replacing the DSL filter if you have one on the line.

I have contacted My ISP they do not do line checks as I am running an internal modem.

Attitudes like that from the phone companies are one of the reasons I no longer use landlines. If the filter swap didn't help (or isn't applicable) I'd go here and run some of the line quality tests.

Your service provider is obligated to test the line if your connection drops off completely. being that you mentioned minimal difference in connection speed is not a problem on the providers end.

I'd have to ask the method you've tested these speeds? there are many websites offering testing, then I'd have to take into account the accuracy depending the test servers connection/ users accessing the server etc.
The level of speed that I am paying for is up to 8.0 Mps The thing that I can not get my head around is that this time last year I was getting 7.2 Mps

    ISP provider is Orange
