remote access
Hi. I thought I had configured everything correctly for people to access their computers remotely. For instance, when I select my workplace computer from the list I get this error: Connectivity to the remote computer could not be established. Ensure that the remote computer is on and connected to the SBS network.
What is going on? Could the power settings for the remote computer be the culprit?

I am sorry about that! XP machines for the remote desktops. Small Business Server 2003. I setup the users has mobile users on the server. Then on the desktops, I went into admin tools and user accounts and selected the users as remote users. That should be it, right?

How do they access the network from outside? I have a feeling this might be a firewall config issue.. also are the workstations configured for remote desktop?

Via the Remote Web Access. Yes, the workstations are configured for remote desktop (or so I thought). Do you mean the windows firewall on the desktop?

Does it work from inside the LAN?

No, unable to within the LAN. I have at least one person who can connect remotely to his workstation. So, it might be just on the workstation. I will check on that.

It was the firewall on the workstations that had to be configured. I added an exception and now remote access can happen!

Time to implement a GPO for the firewall and be done with it...
