replacement for pinger
We use a program called pinger to monitor multiple vpn boxes for connectivity. It displays an alrm if a site goes down. It is an old program and we are updating the pc's in our IT dept and want to know if someone is using something better.

We use a program called Intermapper in my IT department. We use it to monitor our Servers, Switches, Access Points, and other network equipment. It can monitor items by Ping/Echo, SNMP and a few other protocols. I am not sure on the cost but we set it up to email alerts and it has a Java based and Web Based GUI that you can design and display your devices.
