    Device manager is showing Enhanced USB? Got a screenshot?

    Restart your machine and Press Del at the Bios Logo (as soon as your computer turns on)
    Go to the Advanced tab by arrowing Right
    Select USB Configuartion
    Select USB 2.0 Controller Mode
    Choose FullSpeed
    Press F10 followed by return

    If that doesn't fix it, do an sfc /scannow.

    If that doesn't fix it, the USB 2.0 controller is likely toast. Buy a card if the mobo isn't returnable.

    - Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
    - Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
    - USB Composite Device
    - USB Root Hub

    that did it!! i'm at full speed now! but i don't understand -- the bios help says HiSpeed=480mbps, Fullspeed=12mbps

    maybe they got their wires crossed!!!!

    thanks guys!!!! now i can burn at 16x off my externals again

    The data I found says 16x burn is about 21MB/s and Full Speed USB operates at about 12MB/s so it is possible you are actually burning at about 8x which is still pretty good.

    I don't have a lot of knowledge in this area, nor interest really. Someone else may offer further edification.

    nope, 16x works perfectly. according to all tests, i'm now running full usb 2.0.... no clues how!!!
