SB&SD unable to fix registry key
Running SB&SD 1.5.2. OP sys Win xp, sp3.
Problem: When attempting to fix a problem, SB advises 1 problem can not be fixed: "Windows Explorer: [SBI $6107D172] User Assistant history files (19 files) (Registry key, fixing failed)"
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-606747-1958367476-682003330-1005\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\UserAssist\{75048700-EF1F-11DO-9888-006097DEACF9}\Count.
I assume, being SB also advised "Congratulations no immediate threats found" that to mean it isn't too serious. Anyway, I would like to clear this out so it doesn't show up on every check. All help appreciated. Thanks...

From Spybot's help facility:
"Usage tracks
Usage tracks are your fingerprints in your system. Whenever you visit a page with your browser, or just open any file, that information is stored deep inside Windows. In most cases that is very useful – if you want to open that file again, you can select it from a list instead of typing the whole filename or browsing the whole directory structure again.
But in some cases you may want to hide your activity, because spyware and internet attackers may use that information. Spybot - Search & Destroy can remove some of the most important and common tracks on your system."
That being said, if you wanted to temove those, you would need to be logged in as an Administrator, I believe, and then run SB-S&D (they show permissions for Administrators and System in my registry).
If that didn't work, as an Administrator, delete them manually by going through regedit to that key (you would NOT delete the 'Count' folder icon in the left hand pane, just the stuff in the right hand pane).
On experimenting, (I log as an Administrator) I ran SB and all but the one right hand entry for the first Count were deleted, so you might want to leave that one alone.

Thanks for the info. I'll give that a try. I did run SB&SD as administrator in safe mode, but got the same results. Couldn't fix the problem. Any more inputs much appreciated.

I tried the manual option, but not sure what to delete. That key has so many items listed, I'm not sure which is which. I couldn't find any specific reference to "User Assistant history files" (47 files) Registry key, fixing failed.

Did you log on as Administrator and try SB ?
edit - ignore that - bsically ANYTHING in the right hand p[ane can be deleted except, as I said, the single entry in the top 'Count' key -leave it.
Spybot removes ALL of mine BUT that one.
(even an 'Administrator' account can have permissions that don't allow changing stuff - check the permissions on the 'Count' keys.)

I checked, I think, and my log in shows I am Administrator of the computer. I can't determine the right hand pane you refer to. I'm not to sure of what I am doing so a little hesitate in deleting anything without specific guidance. Willing to try any suggestions you might have clarifying what I should do other than just ignoring the problem.

The first 'screen shot' depicted in this link ( http://support.visioneer.com/Knowled...20Registry.asp ) clearly shows the left and right 'pane' of the registry editor screen.
The right hand pane has the 'red-hilighted' icons, while the left has the yellow-hilighted icons.
Having shown you that, I would suggest that, if those entries aren't sucessfully deleting using SBS&D, and you are logged on as the/an administrator with Full permissions, then there is a problem.
I suggest Googling for further advice. I am loathe to sugggest much more when you don't have a lot of experience in registry editing.
edit: this is a good article: http://personal-computer-tutor.com/abc3/v29/vic29.htm

Well, not sure what I did, couldn't find user assistant history files in registry any where so did a search, then I noticed a added file about history. Ran SB&SD, and the results showed [SBI $6107D172] registry key, fixed this time. Anyway to make a long story short, all appears to be working OK now. Thanks for all your help...
