Annoying boot up problem
My windows XP home edition runs, loads up the log in screen then stops there, i type the password in, it loads my desktop background, then instantly kicks me back out.
With anyother laptop id reformat it and be done with it. The problem is, i dont have the original windows disk that came with it, and none of my others work, it refuses to boot from the disk, so how do I fix it? or is it a lost cause?

Welcome to Windrivers Idimmu
The laptop has a COA on the bottom, so you can use any OEM XP home edition cd to reload it... you just need to borrow one. If the COA is not on the laptop, then you have no proof of licence and you will need to buy a new copy.
You can repair this problem - however the malware writers have gotten very very good at hiding and just when you think you got it all, back it comes with a vengence.
First thing to do is start in safe mode - press F8 a bunch of times before the windows splash screen and choose safe mode without networking
If it lets you in then, you are in with a chance.
Next run hijackthis in safe mode and post the log here - let's see what you're up against!
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I recommend you try booting into safe mode as NooNoo suggested !!
Or its trying to boot from a poorly made copy
