    Audio and USB Not Working

I am trying to get the audio and USB ports working on a Dell Dimension 2300. I am running XP Pro and it has been service-packed.

I have downloaded and installed the chipset drivers from Dell's site using the Service Tag code.

Under Device Manager, I see all the sub-categories under "Audio..." that should be there and no exclamation marks anywhere in Device Manager. I have downloaded and installed every relavant drive from Dell's site for this unit.

If worse comes to worse, I'll just buy an audio card BUT I still have the problem with it running any USB devices.

Any help would be appreciated. The sound as well as video {which is working corectly} are both integrated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff Farrar

Is this a system where you've just reinstalled Windows, or is it an installation that was working OK then suddenly developed problems? If it's B, I'd start with System File Checker. But if you gave us a little more info about the circumstances, it would help.

The system was purchased w/o an OS installed. I booted from the XP Pro CD, created the partition, formatted, and installed.

    Thanks,

    Thank you very much!

I help our Network Admin and we've had the same problem on one or two Dell boxes running W2K. After a few hours, he'd say they don't need sound anyway and since we are replacing over 100 boxes with identical ones to ghost the image, we stopped working on that problem.

Thanks again for your help...especially on a holiday!

    Thank YOu!

Accessed the BIOS and everything was off...USB, integrated audio, etc.

    That solved the problem.

    Thank You Again,

    Jeff Farrar
