Whomever typed this up did one crappy drop, it's not even convincing.
Publisher's description of Windows XP Service Pack 3
    From Microsoft:

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes previously released Windows XP updates, including security updates and hotfixes. It also includes select out-of-band releases, and a small number of new enhancements, which do not significantly change customers' experience with the operating system. Windows XP SP3 provides a new baseline for customers still deploying Windows XP. For customers with existing Windows XP installations, Windows XP SP3 fills gaps in the updates they might have missedfor example, by declining individual updates when using Automatic Updates, and updates not available through Windows Update.
For crying out loud they must of typed this when they were smoking crack while shoving hash cookies down there throat, and playing WoW.

must of been a ms basher that typed it.

The statement over at the actual mswindows site says completly different to what the description here is trying to crap down your spinal cord.

Umm, teabags, am I understanding you correctly, that you feel there is something majorly wrong with the quote you've posted?

It's Microsoft's own description of SP3, taken verbatim from sections of the MS document Overview of Windows XP Service Pack 3:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Mags, there are some known issues with SP3, like not starting on an AMD processor, with solutions available. I have installed it over fresh SP2 installations with Intel CPUs without any problems. Saves downloading 85 or more updates after SP2.

Have it on all computers at work and home, no issues. Furthermore it seems to speed up things. Ghost and apply... just in case

I have installed it on a number of AMD systems with no ill effects what so ever.
So I am not sure where that comes from and i agree with CeeBee it seems to speed things up some.

It's a restricted issue, but it was one of the things that made some people loudly condemn MS and SP3. I mentioned it as an example of what may have caused Mags to read that SP3 wasn't a good thing:

Platypus, I think t34 was referring to the user reviews on CNet as being questionable.

Mags, I've done a couple of dozen SP3 installations on AMD and Intel platforms and haven't had any significant problems. As with any of the XP service packs, you want to be sure your system is malware free before you install the service pack. Otherwise, it's no big deal. The installation is pretty slow, but it should work just fine. A little performance boost, no significant problems.

Will try, but as Slgrieb said it's pretty slow installing, won't start now, as it's 11.07pm.

And indeed .. would a sweet, English gal have malware?!!!

Rolled it out on about 2500 Dell Desktops/laptops (AMD and INtel) and not one issue so far. I did this back in the spring and I have updated all my images to have it installed.
