Traffic Volume Monitoring Based on IP

    Hello
What would be the simpliest, cost effective way to monitor traffic flow of individual ip's on a home based network?
It is a closed network limited to ip's that have been given access to the internet by use of a Mac filter.
The computers are owned separately and I do not have access to their operating systems.
I don't wish to monitor content just volume.
I use a Dlink DI 624 attached to a speedtouch modem.
    Any suggests will be considered.
    Thank you

You actually need to monitor the traffic at the Dlink to do what you want... and since you can't install anything on the Dlink, I think you are out of luck. All you can do is monitor your own traffic and compare it to the usage figures supplied by your ISP (if any).

programs like this are available for free... but as you can see, you need to put it on each machine.

    Cool Solution

I think I will have resolved the issue.
I have 5 guests who wish to access the internet. I just purchased 5 DI 624's and I will give each his own access point. Each Router(DHCP Disabled)/Bridge monitors its own packet quantities. Each evening I will record the quantities and it will give me the quantities for each guest.
A little rough and simple but they are cheap $30 each.
I had also heard about HandyCafe but I don't think I would be able set it up as easily as this.
    Thanks for your time.

Fair enough! I didn't realise you wanted to set up a mini internet cafe... I would have looked for something else. But you are sorted now.

Red face I am listening. Could you recommend a better solution?

    Hi Noo Noo
This will give me rough and immediate results. I would much prefer a simpler and more streamlined solution. Something self monitoring that I check on every couple of days. Something I don't have to break out the notebooks and calculator to read the results.
I have a guest house which I provide an internet connection to our guests. They are students and lately the internet usage is ballooning. I needed to find out who is the heavy user/user's and deal with them directly so that we can create a workable solution.
They are supposed to be running antivirus (Norton AVG etc) and Spyware Doctor. If it is a computer problem I don't want to bother the other guests needlessly.
I don't want to punish people who have done nothing wrong and help those who have find an acceptable solution.
If you can suggest something better for the long term I am all ears.

Antemedia Bandwith Manager looks like it will do the job for 99euros. You just need a computer with twin network cards to act as the server. Pretty easy to do if you know how to fit a network card.
