What is causing my printer to smudge the ink?
Hi all!
I am servicing a HP 1300 printer.
Whenever I print I get these dark smudges on the papers. I can make out all the letters allright...is this the cartridge or the fuser that is causing this?
I have attached a scanned copy of the printer's test configuration pages...you can see for yourself the smudges.
It is the test page and I cut it in half to keep the image under forum size limits.
So what gives?
Regards...

You might try HP's website for HP LaserJet 1150 and 1300 Series Printers - Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.

Most LaserJet problems can be traced to the toner cartridge itself. That would be the easiest thing to replace and verify.
Good Luck!

I'd think it would almost certainly have to be the cartridge leaking toner.
