    Angry LPR Printing

I installed an LPR printer on an NT 4.0 server with sp6a. I shared the printer and installed the 95 print driver on it so i can browse from a work station and double click on the share and create the port and d/l the driver to the work station. When i browse the network from the server the drivers show up and they are shared. But when i browse from a work station the share isnt there. I can put the \\servername\printername in manual and the print driver installs off the share (even though you cant see it the share is there and working) and it prints fine, i just cant figure out why the share doesnt show up when i browse to it. I have another printer connected to the server using LPR and it shows up and i can browse to it with no problem. Iam logged on as admin at the work station so its not a permission problem. The printer is a lexmark 720c color printer.....thx for any input Born
If yea turnem upsidedown they all look the same!

as far a i kn0ow the drivers dont need to beon a share, just installed ad ready for printsrv to deploy.

when a user adds a printer using the add printers wizard and enters network printer and the location (brows or manual) win "should" just grap the drivers from the printsrv and install as needed.

    Question

Yes it logs on to the domain.....when i browse the network to the server i see printer icons that are shared for other printers on the network. I installed the lexmark (LPR) the same way as the others but the icon is not there. But when i put the path in to the lexmark share, it d/ls the 95/98 driver just fine. I want to be able to click on the icon and have the print driver install it self......its no big deal, i just dont understand why the icon doesnt show up. It works fine, i just cant see it with the rest of the shared printers on the server.....hope iam making myself clear.....thx for the help....Born

    if thats the case!

if works fine, but its no on the brows list?? interesting, its obviouls syared right, and your obviouly on the net work.... could be taht the list ing is being loaded from cache and not updataing, if itraly bothers you:

    1. navicate to the loaction on the machine its installed on.
    a. if not there your browlist is out of date, and should be forece to refresh.....
    i. try f5??
ii.reboot ususalky dose it for me, because i can never remember how to force it to do it...

    2. navigate ther with another system
    a. if not seen it could be brows list, or a network issue (had machines taht could see themseleves, but know one else, and yet i could connect. (was driver related)
    i. try f5 or a reboot

    3. if its only that machine, its problay w win 9x related issue, becasue win 9x dosent like NT, and will always set it self up to be the brows master for its own little world, thoughs over siding waht NT is telling it... i also forgot how to make it stop, but i know its in the registry...

    4. is it raly that imprtant if you know the network path?? i would just leave it callit a 9x/NT integeration problem, and life goes on.
try pressing f5 in the window where it should be...
