Gigibit over ethernet
My exchange instructor told me that they are able to transfer 1000Mb/s over ethernet cable or UTP. Is this true? I thought 100Mb/s was the fastest they could get from twisted pair cable.

Yes it is true but I have yet to see it. I think there calling it CAT 6 or CAT 7. But yes it is a 1000/mb over copper. I look forward to trying it.

There is a new CAT5 Enhanced cabling which is out which supports Gigabit/net/speed. This does 1000Mbit p/s and is only slightly more expensive than CAT5 stuff.
They say CAT 6 and CAT7 is the stuff to wait for tho.
