Something is deleting my cookies
Yesterday morning I had a lot of problems with accessing programes and my email and at one time the machine refused to let me open anything.
Yesterday evening after closing the computer down and logging on again I noticed that all my cookies had gone, the things that ewnable you to automatically log on without typing anything, forums even the ones I run, Bank everything. I had to type them in again.
I closed my machine down about four hours ago and again I find that all my cookies have been deleted. Could I have a denial of service or other trojan despite using Norton Internet Security 2008? I ran two scans yesterday.

Are you talking 'cookies' or 'favourites' ?

Make sure your cookie management is set correctly.
IN XP, Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, Override checked, Accept 1st, Block 3rd, Allow session.
Also, Tools, Internet Options, Browsing History-Settings, have 50 MB as the storage and keep in stoprage = 2 days and 'every time I visit the webpage' checked.

Do you run a routine AV/AM that is set to delete cookies?
Have you run a good AV and an AM lately?

edit: and you DO NOT want to stay logged into your Bank account, EVER!

CCT the banking ones here only recognise part of the details, you are still required to put in at least two more bits of information...both mine time me out in 5 minutes too.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

In my online Banking accounts only the first step, either numbers or a username, are saved. I then have to input my password and as Noo says further info. What you input varies from Bank to Bank and card provider but all require at least three steps of which only the first is saved. CCT I would not be such an idiot as to stay logged on and in any case I am also timed out if I am inactive.
Anyway the problem with my lost cookies seems to have disappeared but it has happened before.

I do not have a Goggle toolbar or any other extras but I did have a Windows Update this week but forget what it was.

Might have been that... if it has stopped doing it, then I think you are ok.
