    ati wdm tv audio crossbar

i have a dell pent III. I have an ati 128 pro pci tv tuner running mmc 7.2. I have a creative audio pci sound card. i cannot get the tv to play any audio. windows audio service is started. i can get audio from the sound card when playing program events ( asterisk - close program- etc) I am using line in to my desktop speakers. Driver for the ati crossbar id 6.13.10.6131 and the driver for the sound card is 5.2.3633.0. using the sound initialization wizzard from the ati mmc 7.2 i've tried line-in and aux but i still have no sound. I can get audio if i play a cd and from the file player but not from the tv. please help

    Welcome to Windrivers Williesv

Line in... means line into the computer... if you have that connected to speakers, the computer is expecting the speakers to create sound and send it to the computer.

You need to put the speakers in the green speaker jack.

ok.. so where do you plug the aerial cable in please? I think I need the exact model of the ATI Tuner.... is it the TV Wonder or the All-in-wonder with the purple dongle thing?

Edited by NooNoo: you have to host the picture somewhere like flickr or imageshack or whatever and then use the img tags.

OK so if you have the aerial going to the CATV socket, the next thing is the output adapter... it is connected to the output of the 128 pro and depending on the model has one or two sound leads... one is the adapter out and must go to sound card line in... the other is not needed for the moment.

Having got the cables in the right place, you then have to make sure that the line in channel is not muted in the sound mixer.

Click start, run and type in
    sndvol32
    click ok

Click on options then properties and change to recording. Find the line in slider - if it's not there go back to properties and tick the appropriate box) and check that it is up (not quite all the way) and the box is checked (selected) so that it can work. You can only have one recording source at a time as a rule - depending on your card.

Now test the sound output - the ATI card outputs through the WAV so check that the playback for WAV is up and not muted - but if you can hear windows sounds, then WAV is not muted.

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

i have two output adapters on the ati board - cd in and cd out. I don't have any cd audio cabels so i will hard wire to the sound card. I have four adapters on the sound card - cd audio in - aux - tad i/o and speaker out. I will try the aux first.

attachments are limited in size - you need to host the image as explained above on somewhere like flickr or imageshack and then link to the image from here.
