yahoo mail not working
Hello folks. Windows XP Home with SP3 on it. Web pages load fine, except when I click on Yahoo mail, it tries for a few seconds, then it gives page cannot be displayed.
I have tried:
Virus scan
CCleaner
turned off all add-ons
Safe mode
Turn off Windows Firewall
Same thing. I can provide any other needed information.

Just curious but what virus scanner do you use? Is it an internet suite? If so you may need to disable its filtering of webpages. On my windows 2000 machine NOD32s smart security suite will lock me out of yahoo mail. Even though there are permissions allowing it to open.

Right now I have Avira free on it, just to check it out.
However, there is a "botched" Symantec/Norton product or two on it - they do not work any longer, they can not be uninstalled from Add/Remove programs - their names are "Norton Antivirus" (listed twice), and "Norton Internet Security" - listed 8 times. When I try to remove them it says "the MSI must be launched through setup".
Don't know what else to do....

When I try to run the Symantec removal tool, I get this error message "SymNRT: Invalid signature" "The file is not signed so it won't run"

I tried everything on that page, and the online Autofix tool. Still no changes. I guess I'll try a dedicated uninstaller from download.com or something.
I don't even know if the Norton products are causing the problem with yahoo mail page not showing up or not.
Thanks anyway,

Can you get to other secure sites?
Can you access the site in safe mode with networking?
