    System Restore Will Not Work

Firstly i would like to state that i am not a know it all about computers, in fact i know just enough to get by and a few little tricks and that's all. Secondly i need some help lol.
I was watching some episodes of Chuck via the web, then all of the sudden i get a pop up and it started scanning my computer. It was called xp deluxe protector and i have never installed it before nor did i give it permission to run. I operate on windows xp. Then i delete and remove the program and all containing files. But now when i do a web search on google it will bring up the results, but any result that i click brings up one of several b.s. search engines that all the results are something that you have to pay for.
Now at this point i say to myself okay easy to fix, I'll just do a system restore. So i click on it and i chose my restore point for 3 days earlier. I hit next and the page loads asking me to confirm my restore point selection. I hit next and nothing happens. I tried this 5 times and it wont work, i even did it in safe mode by hitting F8 during the reboot. I can't sign in as an admin because the dumb *** that partitioned my hard drive for me put a password on the admin account and he didn't tell me and he is nowhere to be found. Any suggestions on how to remedy this issue will be greatly appreciated, and if you could word it as though a complete retard would understand i would appreciate that as well lol. Thanks.

    Welcome to Windrivers drjekyls666

You have a net nasty which has got into the works.

I suggest a scan with Malwarebytes AntiMalware (free version) from here

Install it, update it then run a full scan and post the log that it generates here please.

Before you do that, you should turn off your system restore altogether - as you have seen it is toast anyway and then go into your browser(s) and delete the temporary files and cookies... it will make the scan faster.

Please also post whether you have xp home or pro.

My guess is that you have admin rights on your machine. If you do, you can reset the admin account password.
Go to computer management, expand system tools-> local users and groups-> users, r-click administrator and set new password.
