    Motherboard issue

    Hi i'm Andy i'm nre on here hope your all good

    i had a problem eith my Gigabyte motherboard a where I heard a popping sound I'm not quite sure what it was but everythings seems to be fine touch eood...

    Do you think I should keep runnig the board or have it replaced?

    what is the best way to find out if anything is up?

    Welcome to Windrivers Collio

    If you can't find any fault with the board, then it will be difficult to take it back on the basis of a popping sound... the sound may have come from a number of sources.

    If you got the board from a shop then it would be worth asking them. If you got it delivered from an online company, then you will cost yourself postage and packing and if they can't find anything wrong, they won't refund.

    What was happening when you hear the popping sound?

    Hi

    I just plugged in the sys fan on the board as it was not connted and as soon as I hit the power switch I heard a pop and turn the PC off

    I have had a look on the board and near the front next to the Sys fan connector there is a small chip that says BIOS on it that seemts to hav burnt out.

    I don't know why it did that but will this have an affect on the system do you think and will it be covered under warranty...

    If the bios chip had burned out the computer wouldn't boot. Sounds to me like you forced the fan plug on the wrong way round.

    So how well do you know Vakas?

    It looked the right way round but i can't remeber,

    Has this ever happened to you?

    Will it have affected anything else on the board do you think

    I sdon't want to add anything else or eisk blowing anything else in my system do you think i should just change the motherboard?

    Or should I just let it run and if it dies then get a new one?
