I am trying to install my Lexmark 3500-4500 and when it gets to the part where i connect the USB cord...i connect it and nothing happens. The install wont let me click continue becuase it must think that i never connected it....

Welcome to Windrivers msc0015
Lexmark are great at doing this.
Have you downloaded their latest version of the drivers?
What windows are you usings?
Did you ensure that the printer was powered up and ready (online) before connecting the printer?
Did you connect the printer before installing the driver software?
Did you disable your antivirus and firewall?

I tried installing in on both my laptop which has vista and desktop which has XP and had the same problem on both. I bought the laptop only a few months ago. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, checked the power, didnt conect until instructed....
How would i ensure i had the latest software?

click here and choose your exact model.
If it doesn't work with the latest drivers on two different computers then either your usb cable is shot (had that before) or the printer is faulty.

I have not tried a second cord yet. I did order one. I just bought this USB cable brand new. I'll try that link as well.
