Found a Cisco 2513 Router
I don't, won't, and never will pretend I am a network administrator. I found this Cisco 2513 while dumpster diving at an evicted IT shop a couple years back. The unit appears to work. I just don't know how to use it. I also have very little understanding in what to use it for. From what I can understand it's a NAS and the only time I ever even heard about those was while I worked at an IT firm while talking to the network engineers. To help anyone on giving me advice on this unit and if I could/should use it I'll describe what I do have available in my home office.
I will be getting a business grade FIOS connection where I'm moving
1 Netgear Wireless Router model WPN824
1 SMC 4 port switch
3 Desktop Computers (one potentially becoming a Linux File/Game Server)
2 Laptops
2 Xbox 360s
and of course
1 Cisco 2513 Router

One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

If i remember my cisco models properly, that's a very old model, I'm not sure if it does NAT routing, but would be surprised if it did. You would need to learn the Cisco ISO in order to program it and have access to some older equipment to do so. You would need the rj45 - serial adapter that cisco has, a roll-over Ethernet cable (12345678 - 87654321) and a computer that has a serial port. I remember the basics of programing those suckers but it's been a while. Honestly, you are probably better off not using it and saving yourself a big headache.

So.... Having the blue com port cable and a copy of cisco for dummies won't save me? Ah well figured it'd be something fun to tinker with in my slowness with the lack of work lately. Thanks for the heads up.

According to the specs the router can do only 10M. That would make it a big bottleneck for your connection.
Oh and if you don't have the password you'll need to call Cisco to unlock it.

LOL sounds more and more bleak as we go. Why can't people throw out something good for me to toy with?

Something like this? http://snltranscripts.jt.org/76/76jconsumerprobe.phtml
Consumer Reporter: Alright. Fine. Fine. Well, we'd like to show you another one of Mr. Mainway's products. It retails for $1.98, and it's called Bag O' Glass. [ holds up bag of glass ] Mr. Mainway, this is simply a bag of jagged, dangerous, glass bits.
Irwin Mainway: Yeah, right, it's you know, it's glass, it's broken glass, you know? It sells very well, as a matter of fact, you know? It's just broken glass, you know?
Consumer Reporter: [ laughs ] I don't understand. I mean, children could seriously cut themselves on any one of these pieces!
Irwin Mainway: Yeah, well, look - you know, the average kid, he picks up, you know, broken glass anywhere, you know? The beach, the street, garbage cans, parking lots, all over the place in any big city. We're just packaging what the kids want! I mean, it's a creative toy, you know? If you hold this up, you know, you see colors, every color of the rainbow! I mean, it teaches him about light refraction, you know? Prisms, and that stuff! You know what I mean?
