Left for Dead 2
Has anyone tried L4D2 yet? I am considering the purchase, but haven't really seen much substantial change from the original game. Yes, I know they added hand-to-hand weapons to the mix, and the characters are different, but is there anything else?

This is just the latest 'bestest' attempt to lock people into buying and playing on-line limited-multi-player games and earn some money.
This quote "More effectively than most other titles out there, Left 4 Dead 2 forces you to work as a team if you want to win. You need to talk, and you need to participate. Every member of your four person squad of Survivors needs to be communicating about what they're doing, calling out locations for ammunition, weapon, and health pickups, and asking for help when in trouble." from http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/104/1045664p1.html says it all.

Okay, they're forcing me to do something I already wanted to do.
I have a small group of folks I play online with: IT consultants, some of my lads (son, step-sons, etc.) and friend of theirs. All in all about 8 folks at the most. We get together to blow off steam, exchange sarcastic remarks and personal insults on Friday and Saturday nights (some of us less sober than others). A good game will last us a year or so, which is rather cheap entertainment that won't get me into serious trouble. A good deal, says I!
I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.

I won't be getting this title only because it should've been downloadable content as an add-on and not a full blown title. I had a hard enough time considering playing the first one after I realized there were only 4 seperate stories to do in the game. Not to mention the multiplayer map options are so few to choose between. If the vs computer missions are few I prefer to be wowed with massive online ability and massive online map options, which I have to say were very few to choose from in the first one. The game was good so don't get me wrong on that. Just it was not 4 super cool maps aweseme fun, rather it was 4 good maps then put it on the shelf to rot fun. In closing I can't justify more than 15 dollars to have 4 new weapons to choose from and reskinned artwork.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

They added a new story arc to the original, so now you have 5 campaigns. They did add the Survival mode earlier... and there are far more "custom" maps and campaigns (player generated content) which are easier to install and run. I have not had enough time to learn the development tools, so I haven't created any maps, or scenarios yet.
L4D2 has made some improtant content changes, from what my buddies tell me. Not noly does it add the melle weapons, but the Special Undead have changed and there are now a variety of common infected as well, with unique abilities/effects. The maps are more open and not so linear, now, allowing more choice on how to get from the start point to the next safe room. And, it seems like they spent more time and effort in the sound effects on this release.
As I said before, most of my group likes to play L4D because it is mindless mayhem and good way to vent frustrations and kill some time. Quite often it turns into a massive rabid monkey free-for-all where we are too busy killing each other to pay much attention to the undead.
That's what happens when you get a group of ADHD nerds together and arm them. People start shooting the alarm cars, or disturbing the witch, on purpose, just to make it "challenging" for every one!
