Windows 98SE - ONE problem
Just got Windows 98 SE. Clean install worked like a charm, with one exception: exclamation point in device manager by, you guessed it, Internet Connection Sharing! Fixed it by just going to Windows Setup and removing ICS, then rebooted. After I rebooted, I reinstalled it using Windows Setup again. Rebooted; no exclamation point. Spent over an hour trying to configure it, until I read the post from rusabus. Yeap, using WINS did the trick! I owe you a beer rusabus. Other than the mentioned problems, SE seems to be rock solid.
My system configuration:
AMD K6-III 450
EPoX MVP3G-M board
128 MB PC-100 ram
Creative Riva TNT2 Ultra (with fixed 1.88 detonator)
SoundBlaster Live! Value
Linksys Etherfast 10/100 network card
Phoebe X2/V.90 ISA modem (SE actually had a driver)
Interesting to note that the people who seem to have the least problems with SE have AMD chips, not Intel. Just an observation, not a bias.
