keyboard error
I just finished putting together a PC for my son (my first try at this)
All seems to be working apart from 1 error message that suddenly popped up
"Keyboard error or no keyboard present"
Press F1 to continue.
Which is of course a bit of a hassle when it can not find a keyboard
Any suggestions what can be wrong?
Thanks in advance

First question
Is the keyboard a PS/2 (6 pin micro din) or AT (5 pin DIN)? The PS/2 is a small connector which if your board has the PS/2 connectors it is the same as the mouse. If this is the case, try swapping the 2 around.
If this doesn't help then please could you give more info on the system.

Interesting tip!!.....Anyhow, if it is an AT case, do you perhaps have the keylock locked or shorted?
Are you trying to use a USB keyboard maybe?

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO TODAY?......Not that it matters, because Micrsoft will crash on the way there!!!

Thank U very much for the fast response.
It appears that I had a cable running to the keylock.
was a 5pin keyboard plug
Pentium-S CPU
16Mb Ram
545 Seagate HDD
Case = from a 486DX4-100
Anyway all is running and the boy is happy
Thanks for that
when it boots up, scandisk runs to 15% and stops there, but that is no big drama (so far)
Thanks again for your suggestion/help
