Pentium Class FIST??
I've got at Pentium Pro 200 that is failing TroubleShooter's "Pentium Class FIST". My question is, what is the cpu actally failing?
We still have to original box, but the manual ended up in someones toolbox, and walked away, so I can't look it up...

Got the manual right here, but it's no help. says only "The FIST bug is also tested for; this should only fail on some Pentium Pro and Pentium II processors." I looked it up on the net once and I think I decided that it wasn't important. I also heard a rumour a while back that if you mail Intel such a defective processor, they will mail you back a shiny new one without the bug.

There's an exception to every rule, except this one.

I know you could send in defective Pentium 60's back when they were found to have a problem, but I haven't heard of any other "recalls"
Thanks for the info. I'm gonna put NT on it, if it crashes, then I know the cpu is actally bad...

I found a site that explains the problem...
<a href="http://www.rcollins.org/ddj/Aug97/Aug97.html">Dr. Dobbs</a>
it also has some other Intel "secrets"
