DVD+-RW reads but stopped writing/burning
Hello... I am not technoplaegic by any means, but I am sending up a flare in pure frustration... I hope you can help me out... I have a Dell Latitude D620. I am using the Windows XP Pro OS. I havea TSSTcorp DVD+-RQ TS-L632D drive/burner... I noted that for the longest time, I had no issues with the drive. It would playback DVD's or CD-Roms without any problems... then, I believe I did an update of somekind or added software to view DVD's and now, Windows does not allow me to copy any files to CD and I get error messages. I have tried using other software to burn (VLC Media Player, DeepBurn) and everything says that the burn process has completed, but then I go to check the CD and I don't have any data... when copying files using Windows drag and drop, I would get error messages once the process started asking if I wanted to skip files etc. - - - I have cleared filters which helped with noise I was experiencing during DVD playback, but now I can't figure out this inability to burn/copy data. I really need this functionality back! So, again ---- TECHIE FLARE being sent up as I am STRESSED!!! Thanks in advance!

Fastest way to diagnose a bad burner is put it into another machine, failing that we need to know what "filters" software you used, the version and so on in conjunction with the original burning software at the time to see if there was an incompatibility or bug related to the two. The only other idea would be putting in a different hard drive, if you have one handy, and putting a fresh install of an OS on there and seeing if it burns from that.

It is a laptop I know it is still possible to do the same thing like a desk top just a little more tedious.

On occasions I have had problems with this manufacture type. I have found by going into hardware management, deleting the device and then reboot the laptop, it usually installs and problems no longer exist. The device runs poperly from that point on.
