I realise the last post on this thread was in the mists of time but still the subject is exactly right so I guess here is where to post.
I have an HP Pavillion m1180 with the WN4201B wireless PCI card. I am looking at upgrading to Windows 7 from XP. The upgrade advisory suggests I get an upgraded driver for this. I am not having much luck finding one that specifies it is suitable for Windows7. Am I going to need to replace the hardware with something more up to date or can someone help?

Welcome to Windrivers Blaise1976
this is probably your specification
If you are putting Win 7 on it, you need to upgrade the RAM to at least 2GB - this board will take 4GB. Get good memory - HPs don't tend to like cheap stuff.
As for your wireless card, there is a good possibility that it will be found at Windows update if not you can try the 2nd post here
Alternatively just grab a usb wifi dongle for a few bucks and disable the one in the machine.
Let me know how you get on.

Thanks, and doubly for the speed of reply.
I plan to have 4GB in the PC as have already upgraded the RAM. Unless of course I over heat the thing
Thanks on the driver. I am running it on wired at the moment anyway (too far from my router) so I have more than one reason to go for a replacement if I need wireless.

g'evening..
well i solved the problem by now..
what did i do? i updated the entire windows.. all 115 updates...
rebooted the rig, and it was installed. but not under the accton name.
computer in question is an HP Pavillion 5080.be, p4 HT 3.2 w/ 2gb ddr2
now a new problem: the wlan card's drivers are installed, but it will not detect wireless stations.
there is an antenna connection (like TNC but smaller) on the back of the card, but no antenna.
however, there is a double wire connected to the card inside the pc going to the front of the case.
so im guessing it has an internal antenna. i will look into it tomorrow, as its a little late now, and my job starts at 7am tomorrow... a
nd no my job is not computer related, im just a hard-core geek
thanks anyway for the fast reply lad, i'll keep u posted if i have any succes
so goodnite folks..
regards..

goodevening.
well it seems the wire connected to the wlan card is just for a front panel LED.
i contacted the previous owner of the pc and he's gonna search for the antenna.
but anyhoo, everything seems to be working fine. so if someone else has this problem with a windows 7:
update it, and all will be fine
thanks anyway, and good luck to all of u!
