    Link. I'm not sure I like the idea of Office as a service...

    I'm with you. Anything that has to do with a program dependent on web service is asking for trouble. You can be down for days or you can't access your files. I see Office 2013 is going to be similar as well.

    Welcome to the cloud, it's a lot like a collective, soon it will be an ever present part of our lives where nobody is disconnected and everything is shared without a choice of keeping it offline. Of course the drawbacks are just as intrusive. Being disconnected or shut off will leave you lost and without any functionality as you know it because in order to interract you have to be connected, much like the laughed at message "if you're having problems getting online you can send an e-mail to the help desk".
