What i would try is running a PORTABLE version of office, Just to see if it happens on a non-os/registry dependable office too.
I would even try to burn the portable office on a dvd and run it from there if it will let you - Although I think even the portable version create some temp files.
I know it might consider un-legal to create/use the portable office, But I regard to it only for a tool to see if it's office/hardware related problem.
Another thing - if it's on SSD drive, I would suggest to update it's firmware or try to replace the drive to a non-ssd drive (You can image the drive).
