$7.50 per hour for cabling and they want you to supply the material out of that paltry sum??? Gee whiz, where can I sign up? Thanks for the chuckle!

I accepted a job through a company called OnForce a few years ago. It was to replace 4 pos terminals in a Wal-Mart that was close by. Un-pack the new ones, box up the old ones, leave them on site, test, call in, and leave. ONForce set the price, so I agreed. Normally, OnForce pays within 48 hours of completion. Wal-Mart challenged the work after it was completed, the install went flawless. They tried to negotiate the price they set down to 1/2. Hoping I needed the money fast, and would accept a lower amount. Well, long story short, my agreement was with OnForce, not Wal-Mart, so I didn't care what they paid OnForce. I got paid the full amount, but it took two and a half weeks.

    Job offers

I get this phone call probably once every 4-5 weeks. It's a gentleman with a very thick Indian accent. He always offers for me to interview for a job or to pick up contracts. I don't have a problem with him or that he offers. The problem I have is every time he offers me a position it's in Philly. What makes it so troublesome is he even states that I'm from Pittsburgh. The converstation usually goes like this.

"Hi, I have a postition for you if you're interested. I noted that you're from Pittsburgh PA and we have an opening in down town Philadelphia. Would you be willing to take on the job?"

I always answer with, "I'm sorry but no. Philadelphia is way too far to commute and I'm not interested in relocating".

To which he counters, "are you sure you're not interested in the postion?"

I'm not sure why he never looks in any other locations for me or closer but like I said I get this call every 4-5 weeks.

I am aware this is common to everyone but I just figured I'd write about it anyway. Every so often I get a user or junior manager who comes up to me and says they need a program for work or personal use. The problem is that darned program is just too expensive. Solution? "Hey help desk, can you figure out a way to bypass the serial number/registration or do you know where I can get a hacked version?" Or the nice new question I was asked yesterday "How do I find the super secret hacker and criminal underground forums and sites?". Yes hang on a second let me open my super vault of illegal software that I've collected for just this occassion, oh and you want to know how to do other things illegal? Sure, here's my IT guide on how to break the law, with tips and tricks on being 1337.
