Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 (external HDD)
I need a Windows Vista driver for my almost new and unused Maxtor external HDD. The company that bought out Maxtor does not seem to have support for this Maxtor product. Can anyone out there help me?

You shouldn't need a driver.
What type of connection is it? USB or eSATA?
What happens when you plug it in?

Seagate in fact bought out Maxtor. They do support it. There shouldn't be any driver needed as Steve suggested.
Are you plugging the device into a front usb port or a rear?

This worked for me
I too have a Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 that was not recognized on a laptop running windows 7 or on a desktop running Windows Vista. This procedure worked for both of them. Navigate to the "Device Manager" page in the "Control Panel". Look under "Disk Drives." If you have the same problem I did, you won't see "Maxtor 3200 USB Device" there. Now look under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and one of the ones that says "USB Mass Storage Device" will have an exclamation mark on it. Right click on it and select "Properties." On the "General" tab it will say something like "This device failed to turn on" (don't remember the exact wording). Click on the "Driver" tab and "Uninstall" the driver. Now unplug the device from your computer and then plug it back in. The plug and play software will load and this time everything will work. Now when you look at the "Device Manager" you will see it under "Disk Drives".
