CD Removal
Have a client with an HP Pavilion DV3-1075us laptop. There is a CD Disc in the CDROM/DVD player I need to get out. The player is the type where you slide the disk into, not the drawer that comes out. The laptop will not boot.
When powered up, you can hear the cd start to spin then stop, the screen flashes white and goes out about every 3-4 seconds and no post boot to get into bios. There is no hole to insert a paper clip to release it and none of the key combinations work to make it eject.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

Turn it over and remove the screw, then take out the dvd drive completely is what I would suggest. Usually it isnt too hard.

Thank you Ferrit. I apologize as I've been out working and just got back. I would normally do what you suggested, however, this one is different. The dvd drive is encased in the body of the laptop with part of the side frame plastic covering it. There is a slot in the plastic frame to slide the cd/dvd in. It looks as if you have to take the whole laptop apart.

My Niece has a Dell laptop that has same setup. You slide disk in and it goes farther in by mechanical means. And the back of laptop is smooth with rubber pads to rest it on. No single screw. I have downloaded my other niece`s laptop to replace keyboard and power plug and usb port on same board. I used cardboard to capture screws, there was plenty
I also took pictures for reminders. That was awhile back. Power button was 3 cables to switch, When I was putting it back together one flat ribbon cable was loose at plug. I used plastic card cut it up and slid it in with ribbon cable all is good
I downloaded the maintenance and service manual on your pavillion and it lists two DVD roms one with pin to access and one with chute, The break down does not list in drawings about the one in question. You probably need to explore.

I want to thank everyone for the suggestions and help. The client decided the effort wasn't worth it as the LCD screen and HDD went bad as well. They are pitching it, (recycling), and intend to purchase new laptop. I may just get it back from them and tinker with it for my own knowledge.
