How do I disable the "SECURITY FREEZE LOCK" on my SATA hard disk?
I am sending ATA commands to SATA HDD using IOCTL_ATA_PASS_THROUGH in windows. IDENTIFY DEVICE (ECh) ATA commands returns 256 words of data.
Word 128, Bit 3 is set in the returned data, and according to ATA specs the bit denotes Device is in security frozen mode.
Because of that, ATA Security Commands are getting aborted. I tried power off/Hardware Reset as mentioned in ATA specs to disable Security Frozen mode.
But the device is stil in security frozen state. I am doubting on windows atapi / ataport driver for making HDD security frozen.
How to disable this security frozen mode?? Please Help me...

I believe I know what program this comes up from. It's pretty nifty and handy for keeping people out of the system. I spent many a phone calls fixing this as well.
Here's what you have to do.
You call your internal IT department that supplied you the computer.
You tell them what happened.
You follow their instructions.
In the event you don't have an internal IT department.
Then I will advise you should take it back to where you took it from and hope they don't press charges.
If you need further guidance, please feel free to ask.
One Script to rule them all.
One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
and clean up after itself.

I don't think I could have put that any better myself.
