misconfig.exe
I have windows xp and am trying to make changes when I am running safe mode using misconfig.exe. this my home computer and I am logged in as the administrator but still when I try to apply the changes it says I must be logged in as an administrator, I would appreciate the help.

Sounds like maybe you are infected I would scan it with malwarebytes
and a good antivirus.
It could also be some HP software that's set to start up which doesn't like you
changing it

i have tried malware bytes and whatever the computer virus is won't let it run all the way through without the computer locking up any other suggestions?

MY norton antivirus reoprts that i Trojan fakeav I am having an impossible time removing it, any suggestions?

Slave the drive in another computer, or use an enclosure. Scan it with an antivirus, and then malwarebytes. Remove what it finds. Put the drive back in the computer. Download to a thumb drive on a clean computer, Combofix. Only download it from Bleeping computer.com. Install on infected computer and run. Make sure you have an internet connection when you run. Follow the instructions it provides. When its all done removing nasties, reboot and run the antivirus and Malwarebytes again.
