Red X on mapped drive in windows 7 after restart
Had a client with windows 7 32bit that always had a rex "x" on his mapped drives (Which linked to a computer with winxp) after a restart. You could accessed the drive through "My computer" On the win7 machine, But before you clicked the drive it showed an red "x" on it.
It also didn't allow to run a shortcut on the desktop that was linked to a program that is located on the mapped drive unless you manually accessed it through "My computer" 1st.
Tried every solution I could find on the net (Adding credentials through "credential manager" in the control panel, Mapping the drives via a batch and some other stuff I found), But this guy found the only solution that worked for me (The vbs script run at startup) :

Hello!
I have found solution to this problem. Install KB 2775511, and restart your PC.
Red X problem disappeared from all PCs in my company.
Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-mb...huWFI3Q1E/edit
Best Regards!

Thank you for the update Mangas.
According to MS - You need also to apply 3 more hotfixes in a specific order :

In my case installing KB2775511 was enough. It's all working now.

Thank you for this input. This update is crucial. Will it allow me to disable the vbs script I'm running on every startup ?

I don't know. Before installing KB2775511 I was using "net use" command in bat file. But now it's not necessary, Maybe you will be able to disable your vbs script.
Good luck!
