Possible fix for SBlive and Via Problem
Ok here's what I've got
Abit KT7A-RAID
Athlon 850 (100fsb, AFFA Batch)
Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 Pro
SBlive Value
Seagate Baracuda III
256 Megs Crucial Cas2 PC133
300W AMD Aproved power supply
As many other may have noticed there are some 'issues' with the combination of SBlive and Via. When i run the system at it's rated speed of 850 and leave the sound card out it can run for days without problems. Put the SB in and it will have problems in a few hours. Here's the intresting part, unlock the cpu by closing the L1 bridges and run it at 800mhz with a 100fsb and it will run stable with the live card. I have reproduced this on two different systems that have the same Vid,Mobo,CPU,HD,and of course Sound.
Is it possible that the problem occours when running higher then 850? or running at 850? I've seen alot of other people with the same speed chip and the same problems. If there's anyone who's not having problems, what speed is your chip and what is it running at?
(yes i know this sounds a little weird but it seems to be the only thing that will make the problem go away when done, can anyone else confirm or deny?)
There are no stupid questions! Just stupid (l)users!

I've seen this problem on two machines with AMD 900 and 950mhz CPUs.
1 machine had a asus A7V Mobo w/ Geforce 2 card, and an SBLive:value card.
The other with an abit KT7 mobo w/ same as above.
Same glitches all the time. Freezes (after 5 minutes - 8 hours), choppy sound, etc.
Look here for the forum I posted and updated with now a BETA version of the official 686b patch HERE

I've been running both the 850s at 800 with the 3dmark2001 demo mode with sound without any problems. So it may cost me 50 measily mhz but its stable. and once the offical fix comes ouch maybe i can run it higher.
As long as it works for now im happy. And i have lotsa time to fix it.
