Abit Kr7a raid
recently picked this little beaut up for a song (b grade, 14 day warrenty) but am having probs getting it to run at a higher fsb than 100 with my unlocked 1Ghz (133fsb) Athlon. First thing I did when I got it out the box was flash to latest bios and then try and set up raid array with winxp following instruc from abit site. I usually let installs go with cpu running at 100fsb and its normal mutiplier and things seemed ok until I tried to reboot after setting cpu to its normal fsb and mutilplier. Wont boot at all, have tried with nothing but agp and so on but it just wont do it, any advice apreciated. Will try older bios later, incidently winxp locked up completly when I ran dirX diag, all I had done was install nvidia drivers for winxp up to this point, I doubt it is related thou..
Lastly the cpu was running fine in my last mobo.

Hi!
Hope, that motherboard doesn't look like shown on picture in my reply here: <a href="http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=008509;p=2" target="_blank">http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=008509;p=2</a>
Check it.
Read also overview of that motherboard <a href="http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/abit/kr7a_2.html" target="_blank">here:</a>
It could be also memory-relayted problem...
not a secret, what sometimes seemed to be good memory stick (especially noname) can work well in one system and refuse to work in another...

problems continue with this board. It will not run any 133fsb cpu at 133. Just bought my first xp hopeing to solve prob but same as b4. Reatailer is proving unhelpful, blameing me (treat me like a moron, oh youve got bios settings wrong they say, let me talk you thru them, HA! when they did I had of course done it all b4 and pc wouldnt post and they tell me its the cpu, b***ards).
Nway, I can get machine to post if I set cpu to correct multiplier and 133 fsb but I have set divider to 3:2:1 which is wrong of course. Nway winxp wont boot with these settings, will boot fine at 100fsb. If 133fsb with 4:2:1 does not post. Does this sound like a duff mobo to you lot??
Well of course it sounds like a duff mobo. Stupied q I suppose.

Flabooble!
I have the excat same issue with my kt7a-raid. I just run it at 100mhz fsb. If you find anything PM me because I can not find an answer.
It was suggested that perhaps a part such as the video card may be the cause of the problems with this issue but I do not have a spare vid card to test with that might provided me with a solution.

hi, thanks for the input guys but been very busy and havnt got round to even visiting this forum for a while. It deff wasnt cpu, deff wasnt any other component as all run fine in a variety of mobos I have at home. Should have said that b4, but I guess I knew it was a mobo prob. The people I bought off where reluctant to take it back, blaming me for incompetence or a faulty cpu HA, I have grown tired of people assuming I know as much as the average Jo. Anyway I eventually got a no quibble RMA and sent it back today telling them to test the board with a 133 cpu as the static I've had off there tech dept has been terrible. B4 they wanted to test the cpu(s) as well, and I didnt even buy any of my cpu's off them. B***ards. They even insisted on walking me thru bios settings when I had set to fail safe defaults and arrrr well the list goes on. I wont be buying even a fan off em again. Too much attitude off tech guys.

as you are having probs with a particular company would you like to tell people in the UK the name of the company with "so helpful" tech support and rate them on a 1-10 for service , so as we can all shop there with confidence in the service.
