HELP!!! Just killed an old mobo!
Hi.
I was fooling around with an old system which has an ATREND (I think) mobo, an ATC-1000 with Interl 42830FX chipset.
I tried to update the bios using uniflash and it gave me a warning, something about bootblock (if I remember correctly) not being present but I went ahead anyway. Uniflash gave me a "Success" message and after rebooting... well, NOTHING!!
Oh yeah, I backed up the previous bios but I have no way to access it now. When I turn on the system I just get a blank screen, nothing else.
I would REALLY appreciate any help on this.
Thanx!
Phoebus

If you have flashed bios incorrectly then I think you will need a pre flashed chip or a hot swap setup to flash the chip at home. Ruslans posts are the ones to check for info on hotswaping but you may be able to get a preflashed chip from badflash.com.

ATC-1000 is really A-Trend FX chipset motherboard.
Latest BIOS and manual can be found on their FTP ( ftp://ftp.atrend.com.tw ).
So far as I remember that particular motherboard, that motherboard was having problems with reflashing BIOS because of that damned boot block.
You're not alone,by the way. It's quite often thing with A-Trend motherboards.
It could be also Uniflash's bug, though...
Nevertherless, that problem can be fixed, and, by the way - not worth to spend 20-25USD for motherboard, what costs 10 USD max, IMHO .
Read my latest BIOS recovery topic here: http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=008570#000009

Seeing as you're in Europe, a Dutch guy called Arthur Keermeester (sp?) may be able to help, his URL's www.flashbios.org
