Post Click at the same time

I work in the computer center of the college I go to and was talking to this girl (yea, we lucky student techs get to visit the girls dorms regularly. WOOHOO!) who was having network trouble. I was having her check to see whether or not she was getting a dhcp ip address or not. So I had her in winipconfig (after 2 minutes of her saying it couldn't find it then finding out she was typing in winiTcfg) and told her to release and then renew her address. Well, she said she did and it didn't do anything, just stayed like it was. So we went on for a few minutes and I had her do it again. She said it still didn't do anything and then she said "I am supposed to click on release and renew at the same time, right?" I barely held my laughter in. I don't think it's even humanly possibly to click on both at the same time. But oh well. She was one of these people that would whistle and start singing while we were waiting for her machine to reboot or something.

But what was really annoying was that her and her roommate both had a computer. Port A in the room would work and port B wouldn't (find out later I forgot to switch the port on the 3Com hub it was plugged into from cross-over to straight...oops....only cost us 2 trips to the girls dorm... ). But her and her roommate kept switching which port their cable was plugged into, which made it VERY confusing when trying to find out from them which computer was plugged into which port.

Ok. That's the end of my rant for today.

Yea, I would say so. But considering I have a girlfriend, might need to be careful what I say...

I don't really mind going to the girls dorms (there are 3 on our campus) to check out wiring and all, but sometimes if you go by yourself, you get VERY uncomfortable. Ok, you can get uncomfortable with 2 people with you. But when you get their connection working for them and it's just some stupid thing like they typed their computer name in wrong or misspelled the domain name or something and they say things like "You're the greatest", "You're wonderful", "I love you!!!" (yes, I have been told that once or twice before), it makes it a little better. (Except then when you walk out of their room and are leaving, go around the corner and a girl carrying a big sack of groceries sees a guy in the girls dorm and instinctively simultaneously screams really loud and drops her sack, then you help her pick up the grocies and walk out......VERY quickly....

Sure thing. I'll even let you go by yourself.

The only problem is one of the dorms is guarded by Nazis. You have to leave your school ID with them, wear a stupid name tag type thing that says visitor in big letters and then you have to try to find someone to give you back your id when you leave. I wish you the best of luck with that one.
