Good motherboard test!!!
I setup two identical computers. The only difference was one had a Gigabyte motherboard and one had an ASUS motherboard.
The difference I found was in the speed of installing Windows ME. The Gigabyte setup in 45 minutes and the ASUS in 21 minutes.
Other components were 128Mb Ram, 20Gb 7200rpm Hard drive and a 1 Ghz AMD Thunderbird.
Makes me wonder how long it would take a $19 motherboard that Dell uses in a lot of their machines to install Windows ME??

I do not think this is a good test. Mostly because you used ME. Who knows what evil lurks in that install...

This is a good motherboard test, indeed.
If you want to verify the results, though, try installing Win98SE.
The results are absolutely real! Asus is not only one the best motherboards in the market, but also the fastest.
The results you would get using a cheap motherboard, would be about the same as Gigabyte's. I'm not saying that Gigabyte is crap. It's just Asus which makes the difference in compare with everything else when it comes to speed!
