My new 665 Mhz Intel Coppermine cpu on a Intel 815E m/b triggers the heat sensors when running WinME.Running WinPRO no such problem occur.Reinstalled the M/b software and put in a 2nd fan, to no avail.
Any advice and info on this chip?

What motherboard are you using. Try updating the Bios. My friend had the same problem once with it shutting down with one operating system, but being fine with another.

Try a new heatsink/fan. If it was an OEM processor then it probably is junk. Try this web site www.3dcool.com. They have some real nice cooling products, which would also allow for some overclocking.

Viper! You're wonderful!
I just called 3dcool and I'm getting a powersupply and heatsink shipped via ups tomorrow.
Great price, I bought a 431 watt PS for only $165.00 and shipping via UPS is $5.90.
Pardon the plug, I just wanted to let people know that it looked like a great site.
Thanks!
