dealing w/ idiot bosses....

i just built an nt4 server the other day. everything is peachy w/ it. thats like the 4th OS on that computer. needless to say, everday when i leave (im still doing all kind of stuff to it) i lock the admin acct on it. he wants the pw for it. i just know if i leave it unlocked or he has the pw he will jack it up and ill be forced to undo his mistakes. he just cant leave well nuff alone.

if any of yall have this problem, wanna shed some light on how you deal with it?

Give him the password typed on a peice of paper and sealed in an envelope with a label that reads to the effect of "to be used only in an emergency." Explain to your boss that we geeks are a possessive lot and would find it a personal affront if he were to touch the server unbenounced to you, but that in case you were ever killed in a bizarre gardening accident he would have the password, you provided it in a sealed envelope. Please remember he has a legal right to the password, but as management is more often that not an id10t.

i hear ya man. the jacked thing about it is...if he messes it up, he is gonna want me to fix it. i always could (but id like to keep my job) call him an idiot and either fix it or make him fix it...but like i said i want my job.

I'm not famialar with NT, but could you create a "dummy" admin account that he can use? Then give him permision to change only what you want him to be able too?

I agree with danrak create a user i.e. "Adminisrator" or "NetworkAdmin" he won't know the difference as long as it sounds important and just don't give him admin rights.

P.S. I also don't know squat about NT....YET!!!!!

I live in Pasco County, about 1-2 hours
north of tampa. I'm thinking of moving to the other coast or Orlando though.
