Another person looking for motherboard mfg.

I guess that when you buy a cheap motherboard, you get what you pay for, but there must be a mfg somewhere for this thing. I paid about $130.00 for the mom with a Intel Pent 100 about 3 years ago, so I guess I can't complain. When the system boots up, the chipset info is as follows:
    05/29/97-VxPro-UMC8670-2a5LAH09c-00

Win98 Device Mgr says that the HD controller is a VIA Bus Master PCI IDE, but the chips on the motherboard say VxPro (like the BIOS). The numbers on the chipsets are:

    1. pc82c437vx
    9725cd
    01g00261 `97
    and
    2. pc82c371usb
    9725cd
    02f01700 `97

The manual that came with the motherboard says that it's a 586MMX. I guess that's the mfg name because it has TM in small letters next to it. Underneath 586MMX it says
    New Generation VX Pro Chipset
    PCI Bus and ISA Bus.
If anyone has any information on this motherboard and where I might be able to get updated drivers (if they exist), I'd be very grateful.

    Thank you,
    Dan Roos

What you have is the famous or infamous PcChips board, also known as Alton or Hsin Tech. The url is:

    www.pcchips.com
    or
    www.pcchips.com.tw

I have used these boards many times with mostly descent results, not bad for the price.

Does this board support Windows 98? The only OS I can get running is 95 and lower .. possibly NT, but not sure.

And, since PCChips "support" site is lacking, to say the least. Here is another thread from WD, with a link to a more comprehensive website devoted to PCChips boards :

This board should support almost any OS (BIOS update may be needed for newer OSes)... To identify your motherboard, try this:

Oh, this link was already mentioned...

    Good luck!
