How much are Techs worth?
How much are Techs worth? Are we getting paid enough for the knowledge we know?? Personally I am getting paid 60k per year, and I think I am underpaid for what I do.

Well, friend of mine just landed a peach of a job for $64K plus stock options, but that's Canadian dollars. You don't specify where you're from so it's hard to compare (That's like $40K US.) He's a programmer so you're either in a similar boat to him or way ahead.
I'm a lowly bench tech, so $60K would be paradise right now... *sigh*

I fly ata . com huh? I guess instead of having maintenance crews they pay their IS guys (or programmer guys). J/K!
I actually feel over paid. I am a Sr Systems Specialist and I am a busy guy, so I guess I am getting the going rate. I guess it is because this is my first "real" job that I feel this way. I went from "retail tech" to this...

You're right, PuterGeekGirl, this has become one of the few ways of making getting through my day a cheerful experience.
But I wish I could trade in a perk or two for some good solid $$.
Oh well... until then... this Clam is climbing the mountain! Look out all ye gods! Neptune's Agent is coming for you!

I don't really know if I'm underpaid or not. I make decent money, not near 60K though, but I'm salaried and I work 50 to 60 hours per week. I'm not only a network administrator, I'm a Vignette developer as well. Vignette

Thats it...I'm now offically starting the CTWU (Computer Technician Workers Union)!! From now on, we make the same as anybody on the line at GM!!!
I have several uncles and cousins working at the Lake Orion Assembly Plant, and the lowest any of them make is $23 an hour.
I'm willing to bet that any of us works harder, keeps more people happy, and keeps more businesses alive than ANYBODY at GM.
We hearby demand better pay!
