More Intel Issues
Ya know I have yet to see (other than at a Intel Demo) a 1.13Ghz, and have seen only a few 1Ghz PIII. Now the 1.13 are recalled, and OEM's are having heat issues with the 1Ghz. I can stand by that myself. Of the 5 1Ghz units I have seem, 2 had bad processors.
And ya know I have seen a whole lot of 1Ghz AMD's, and even had two 1.1Ghz AMD's go through fine already.
My Question is this.. WHAT THE HELL IS INTEL DOING!?

It's called "releasing a substandard product and marketing the hell out of it." Kinda like what Microsoft does.
To be fair, I haven't seen any gigahertz processors in action, AMD or Intel. This is not odd, considering my company's primary business consists of reselling Compaq's and that Compaq generally stays a couple of steps behind on new hardware to let the bugs settle. So I'm probably not the one to comment on this situation (he said, right after posting about it! Me heap big dork boy).

Good thing Compaq does that, too. They have enough bugs of thier own.

i have worked with intel p111 700 and just yesterday an athlon 800! the p3 was slooow, the athlon rocked my world (at only 32mb!!!). i installed win98 and the minutes started at about 27, but went down every 30 seconds or so! i have never seen an install go soooo fast.
Now if anyone has half a brain it is obvious the 1ghz rate was going to be a marketing coup, and didn't you expect the pressure to casue them to release these chips as soon as possible? HELLOO!!! anyone home?
by the way did you see that ComputerShopper compared five 1 ghz machines? 2 p111 and 3 athlons all with 128 mb. and 40 gig maxtors. The pentiums edged out the athlons but cost up to $1200.00 more!!! Must be that rdram that caused the price difference. i would rather take the 1200 and up my ram, or buy SCSI, or go to Europe.
WHAT A JOKE!
If you are going to compare machines to determine which processor is better, how about testing machines of similiar price? or run the same ram (pc133) on all the machines. Hell, why not run a Xeon machine at $4500 or more? enuff said
