Post AMD 1.4 and ASUS A7M266 question...

I had just upgraded my BIOS to ver. 1005 from 1004a. Before I updated, my processor was running at 40 deg C at idle. NOW, it's running at 50 deg C at idle after I upgraded the BIOS. Has anyone else run into this? Maybe the 1005 BIOS is utilizing the horsepower of the 1.4G chip and throwing more power to it? Can anyone give me the proper settings I'm supposed to be at if I'm off? Thanks.

I have seen some motherboards where a Bios revision will actually up the temperature reading for the proc. What program are you using? First suggestion would be to try another. Another suggestion would be to get an external temp reader and check it yourself by getting the probe down in there by your processor. I would doubt the bios update would actually change your temperatures this much but it may have reset some items to bios defaults. Therefore, check what voltage it's running at as it may need to be slid down just a little.

I'm using the BIOS readings along with ASUS Probe which is showing about the same. I'm going to retrograde to my old BIOS (I saved it) and see if the temps go back down tonight.
