    Smile It finally happned..

    In the many many years that I have been working on computers, I finally got an end user that had obviously delt with help desk/technicians before..

    At first when he walked in, I got the standard, "I dont know what the hell im doing".. I thought to myself well this is gonna one for the story books. Then, to my surprised, he whips out a peice of paper with DETAILED step by step instructions on what he did to cause his problem.

    My mouth hit the floor... After picking up my jaw, and closing my mouth, I grabbed a pen, made quick few adjustments under his notes where he made simple typo's and said, Have a nice day!

    The guy then says, "you dont want my money?" I chuckled and said, "no, you explained this so well, I would feel BAD charging you for a simple little typo" the man left singing our praise!

    Ahh...the good ones! I get a few customers like that. We have one customer that writes everything down and he is usually in and out in a few minutes. He never once blurted out a stupid question. Even if they did not make any sense or have anything to do with his computer problem, they are always well thought out.

    Yes, the good ones. I wouldn't have charged him for fixing the typo either.

    I have a repeat customer like that guy. The first time I dealt with him he brought his machine to me, told me what he did, and said "it's probably pilot error." Turns out it was, but at least he knew/admitted it. He has been a pleasure to work with since and always pays me promptly (for something small I don't charge him.)
