DDR Tbird System
I am looking to build myself (after selling my old one) a DDR T-Bird system.
This system would consist of the following hardware:
Gainward GeForce 3
MSI K7Master (non SCSI version)
AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.4GHz (266FSB)
512MB PC2100 RAM (1 stick if I can afford it)
IBM DeskStar 60GXP 40GB (could go larger, but no need)
3Com 905C NIC
SBLive X-Gamer 5.1
Kenwood 72X CD-Rom
I have done quite a bit of research on motherboards, differences in performace between VIA, ALI, and AMD is quite a bit.
I am wondering if I should look to other options for a board. I was even thinking on getting a Tyan K7Thunder and 2 Athlon MP 1.2GHz.
My basic question is: has anyone heard of any new chipsets coming out for AMD in the near future?
VIA and ALI sucks behind AMD's in performance, but I can not find a total AMD chipset solution other than the tyan board. I hate hybrids.
What other motherboard would you recommend?
