A7V133 AC97 Audio Problems
Help!
How does one get the onboard AC97 sound to work? I have never dealt with it before. I need a rundown on how to install and get working. Athlon 1.1, WinME, Asus A7V133 w/current BIOS. Shows installed in device mgr but no sound. When I force a sound in control panel it says "Unable to play .... sound card may be in use"
Thanks in advance....

Sounds more like a conflict of some sort. What else is installed? Under normal conditions, it is very simple, although ASUS has some un-admitted problems with their onboard sound. If this is a first build, (new HD, OS etc), I would first remove the drivers, shutdown, disable onboard sound, reboot, shutdown, enable sound, install drivers. Let me know what happens.

You will need the Via 4-in-1's installed of course. Ensure the onboard sound is enabled properly in the BIOS. The A7V133 also has a large 4 pin jumper for disabling/enabling the onboard sound, so you'd want to make sure they were in the correct position. (I built one system with the Asus A7V133, but I can't recall if they are enabled or disabled by default jumper configuration)
