Athlon MB
Hail!
Upgrade time for my home sys. Any recommendations for a stable Athlon board. Probably going to start at 750mhz. Is L3 cache implemented yet? If so, would like at least 2mb. Also, I like to have a choice of IRQ assignments in BIOS, kinda need to in order to config my s/c (awe64) & surfboard (one way cable modem).
Thanks in advance!

I agree too.
Asus K7V. Stability, quality, speed, reliability.

Abit KA7-100 without a doubt. Have used the Asus boards and although they are stable with Athlons running at less than 800Mhz, put a 800 on it and the system loses all stability. This is also the case for quite a few of the other Athlon boards out there. Benefits of the KA7-100 is the inclusion of UDMA-100 capable IDE channels and it is very very stable (even if you overclock using the add-on cards(oops shouldn't really say that))

I would have agreed with you Darrin regarding the stability problems with the Asus K7 MB running the 800 Athlon. The M series boards had some problems. But the new V series boards are much better. I gotta cast my vote for the Asus K7V.

Gotta go with the Abit KA7. If you need/want udma100 support, the KA7-100 is the same board with the added udma100 support. Extremely reliable, stable, and very east to set up.
Go to "www.abit.com.tw".

Ahhhh 2 vg board mfgs., any feedback re: L3 cache (2MB or so) and the bios ability to set irq assignments? These are all considerations for me. Oh yeah.... do these support 133mhz ram too! I do suppose that my expectations are a little early for the state of production right now.
