FIX: SP2 Pop-Up Blocker May Block Windows Update
After installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, the pop-up blocker that is installed may interfere with the Microsoft Windows Update Site. Visit there and you may see this error in Internet Explorer HTTP Error 500 - Internal Server Error, Error 0x8ddd0010. To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods that is appropriate for your situation.
If you are using the Windows XP SP2 pop-up blocker, configure the pop-up blocker to enable pop-ups from the Windows Update Web site. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
3. In the Address of Web site to allow box, type http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com, and then click Add.
4. Click Close to close the Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box.
